The middle class income of Zambia is the fastest growing property development purchasing power of the country’s economy. With their stable income they are looking for new ways of life styles living where they can appreciate an open space floorplan and amenities to share within their small communities. These four identical investor homes answer to their purchasing power and their spatial needs.
The homes stand on a private plot in a city in the Copperbelt of Zambia. Together with a pool, a pool house, and the garden they are the foundation for a safe community for families in the city center. The shaded spaces and natural ventilation are key in the design. Local building methods have been applied. The project was realized in collaboration with a local architect. I was responsible for the design and the local architect has been responsible for the execution, including quality control on site. The program of requirements has been the result of a close collaboration with Zambian business partner client.
